TAF Chat Rules and Code of Conduct

These Rules and Code of Conduct govern use of the TAF platform, including chat channels, in-game chat, hosted game rooms, reviews, and related community features.

By using TAF, you agree to comply with these rules.

Moderation levels may vary by channel or feature; however, certain baseline standards apply everywhere on the platform and are enforceable regardless of location or moderation status.

1. Platform-Wide Prohibited Content and Conduct

The following are not permitted anywhere on TAF, including moderated channels, unmoderated channels, hosted rooms, in-game chat, or reviews:

  • Content or conduct that is illegal, facilitates illegal activity, or violates applicable law.
  • Credible threats of violence, encouragement of harm.
  • Harassment, abuse, or exploitation that is unlawful in nature.
  • Spam, automated flooding, or deliberate disruption of platform services.
  • Attempts to evade moderation, safeguards, or technical restrictions.
  • Impersonation of other users, moderators, administrators, or staff.
  • Doxxing or sharing personal or private information, including real names, addresses, contact details, or other identifying information, without consent.

Violations of these rules may result in moderation action regardless of channel or feature.

2. #coreprime (Moderated Channel)

#coreprime is an actively moderated channel and serves as the primary entry point for new users.

Users in this channel are expected to:

  • Communicate in a civil and respectful manner.
  • Refrain from vulgarities, racial or ethnic slurs, hate speech, or targeted harassment.
  • Avoid behavior that disrupts conversation or degrades the experience of others.

Reports from #coreprime may result in moderation action.

3. Other Chat Channels (Limited Moderation)

All other chat channels operate under limited moderation and rely primarily on user self-moderation tools such as foe lists, leaving channels, or creating private channels.

  • Routine moderation actions will generally not be taken based solely on conduct in these channels.
  • Platform-wide prohibitions remain fully enforceable.
  • Users who do not wish to view certain content should leave the channel or use self-moderation tools.

Users seeking highly permissive or customized chat environments are encouraged to create their own channels and configure auto-join preferences.

4. Links and External Content

  • Links posted in TAF chat must be TA-related, regardless of channel.
  • Non-TA-related links may be blocked.
  • Attempts to circumvent link restrictions may result in moderation action.

5. Hosted Game Rooms

Hosted game rooms are administered by the host, who may kick or foe players at their discretion.

Hosts are responsible for managing their rooms, subject to the following restrictions:

  • Game titles must not contain vulgarities, racial or ethnic slurs, hate speech, or targeted harassment.
  • Platform-wide prohibitions apply at all times.

Players seeking a particular moderation style are encouraged to select hosts accordingly or host their own games.

6. In-Game Chat and Gameplay Conduct

In-game chat is semi-moderated. Competitive or heated discussion may occur, and players are encouraged to exercise restraint and sportsmanship.

The following behaviors may result in moderation action:

  • Intentionally disrupting games, including trolling, chat spamming, targeted griefing, or intentional team sabotage.
  • Unsportsmanlike conduct such as abuse of kick mechanics or lag manipulation.

7. Game Reviews and Ratings

TAF provides features for reviewing and rating games, maps, mods, and related content. Reviews must comply with the following standards:

  • Be Fair and Respectful
    Reviews should be honest and constructive. Personal attacks, name-calling, harassment, or abusive language are not permitted.

  • Focus on the Content
    Reviews must address the quality, functionality, or design of the content—not the character or behavior of individual players.

  • No Revenge Reviews
    Reviews may not be used to retaliate for personal disputes, interpersonal conflicts, or unrelated bad game experiences.

TAF reserves the right to remove reviews that violate these standards.

8. Accounts, Identity, and Privacy

  • Single Account Policy
    Each user may maintain only one account. Account sharing is not permitted. Multiple users may share the same device or internet connection provided they are genuinely distinct individuals.

  • No Impersonation
    Users may not misrepresent their identity or pretend to be other players, moderators, administrators, or staff.

  • Privacy Protection
    Users must respect the privacy of others. Posting or sharing personal or identifying information without consent is prohibited.

Attempts to evade enforcement through alternate accounts or identity misrepresentation may result in escalated action.

9. Harassment and Targeting

Targeted harassment—including repeated actions intended to degrade another user’s experience across multiple games, channels, or platform features—is not permitted and may result in moderation action regardless of location.

10. Reporting Standards

  • Reports must specify the channel, game, room, or feature in which the conduct occurred.
  • Except for #coreprime, reports must be submitted by the individual directly targeted by the conduct.
  • Reports concerning consensual banter between other users will not be acted upon.
  • Users are expected to use self-moderation tools where appropriate.

11. Platform Liability and Moderation Disclaimer

TAF provides an interactive service that allows users to submit and view user-generated content.

  • Users are solely responsible for the content they submit.
  • TAF does not endorse or guarantee the accuracy, legality, or appropriateness of user-generated content.
  • To the extent permitted by 47 U.S.C. § 230, TAF shall not be treated as the publisher or speaker of user-generated content.

TAF reserves the right, but does not assume the obligation, to remove or restrict content or accounts in good faith to enforce these rules or protect the platform and its users.

12. Reservation of Rights

TAF reserves the right to interpret, modify, and enforce these Rules at its discretion to protect the platform, its users, and the community.

Summary
